Consistent Narrative
Reporting
With Home Inspection 2000 Version 5
software, the narrative report that the home inspector generates will always
print out in the same order from one inspection to another. No matter
how the inspector proceeds through the inspection the report itself will
always be consistent. Should you discover that you have
overlooked an area and have to return to the main menu to input the
information the Version 5 software will automatically insert it into the
proper place on the report each and every time.
This consistency feature is a vital tool
for both the home inspector and the Real Estate agent. Your report
will always be narrative and will always follow the same order. For
the home inspector it is a time saving feature during the course of the
inspection itself. There is no need to scroll through every line of
the report to see if the item in question has been included in the report or
not. You will know exactly where it should be on the report and should
you decide to preview the report, simply go to the point where it should
be. If the item is not there, simply go to the Main menu, select that
item, inspect it, and it will automatically be inserted into the proper
location on the report. The Main report will follow the items as they are
listed on the Main menu. It should be mentioned that any item not
selected from the Main menu will not appear on the Main report. This
reduces the confusion that a homebuyer or Real Estate agent may develop
while reviewing the report. For instance if the house is built on a
slab then the words "basement" or "crawl space" will not
appear on the report unless the inspector decides to include them for
some reason. If there is no swimming pool, the homebuyer probably
realizes it, the Real Estate agent realizes it, and there is no need to
mention it in the report.
Version 5 therefore is not only
consistent, it is also concise. Start and finish your inspection
wherever and however you prefer. You need not change your
routine. If an item is not inspected, it will not appear on the
inspection report. Your report will be consistent from one inspection
to another and at the same time it will be unique. Consistency is
particularly important to sales agents that frequently refer your services
to their clients. Even though their main concern may be the Summary
Report most agents prefer that the Main Report follow the same order
every time. They will know what to expect and will be able to convey
that to any potential homebuyers.
The Main Report and the Summary Report
will always be linked together and will follow the same order for each
and every inspection you perform. When a problem is encountered during
the inspection, it will be reflected in the Main Report and it will be
automatically placed on the Summary Report. There are no special keys
or codes to follow. There are no graphic symbols to interpret.
The software will allow you to do the inspection using your normal routine
while organizing and clarifying your results.
